Noreen and Debbie at the Volunteer Fair yesterday evening in Redhill. Organised by Volunteer Action for Reigate and Banstead (VARB) this event provided an excellent platform to promote volunteer activities and raise awareness of the work and achievements of the Downlands Trust and the Downlands Partnership. It was a great success and we were able to network with other charities that might be able to provide volunteers to work with the DP. It was also the first outing for our Fidelity sponsored banner and we were highly praised for our outstanding marketing materials, with the banner, poster, leaflet and business card all matching.

This drainage lagoon was created nearly two years ago at the junction of Holly Lane and Outwood Lane to prevent flooding after heavy rainfall. The WoodChips are a local conservation group who operate with the Countryside Office of Reigate and Banstead Council and work mainly in Banstead Woods and Chipstead Downs. They successfully applied to the Trust for a grant to plant aquatic species in the lagoon to create a haven for local wildlife and also to soften its rather stark appearance! Planting took place earlier this year and we look forward to watching the site mature as the year progresses. Thanks to the WoodChips for the photos.
